Other Information:Harry enlisted on 18th September 1915. He was 21 years and 113 days old; was a Collier by trade; and was living at 621 Bryn Gates, Bamfurlong, Platt Bridge Wigan at the time. He embarked at Southampton on 8th November 1915, then disembarking at Havre the next day, entered the war in France on 9th November 1915. He was wounded in action by shrapnel on 2nd July 1917, suffering multiple wounds to his throat/neck, right thigh, left arm and side. He was admitted into his unit, then evacuated back to the 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station, who evacuated him back via ambulance train to No 13 General Hospital. He remained there until 2nd August 1917, when he was evacuated via the hospital ship "St Dennis" to England. He died from his wounds at the Royal Herbert Hospital, Woolwich. He was the foster son of William and Sarah J Winstanley.
